EMS bags and de-lethalized equipment mounts

ALS & BLS bags  +   O2 bags  +   Defribulator  +  Suction pump + Soft Storage + O2 mounts + Sharps container

The statistics for ambulance crashes and fatalities are staggering. The equipment used in the ambulance are not mounted and become deadly propellants during an accident. Ferno hired Kaalo to design a range of equipment mounts, bags, and storage modules that would solve this problem. After months of research and design ideation, Kaalo arrived at an anti-lethal design language for ALS bags, BLS bags, O2 bags, Storage modules and mounts for defibrillators, suction pumps, oxygen tanks, sharps containers, laptops etc. This project was challenging and fun.

The design of the Ferno Integrated Ambulance System is the first of its kind in the industry.

– Mike McCart / Pulaski County EMS Deputy Chief

Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) bags were designed for Ferno. The design criteria was to make the bags easy to clean, hygienic and light weight while keeping the interiors accessible quickly. Efficiency was key as these bags were carried to the emergency site. Kaalo accomplished this design by using anti-microbial ballistic nylon. This was not only wipe-able but very hygienic in conditions of excessive bodily fluids. The internal compartments are modular and zipped open in all four directions.

To resolve this problem, we needed to design equipment mounts that were not only robust and strong but also soft and cushioned. They needed to withstand at least a 20G force in crash situations.
